Construction work is in full swing at Heinrich-Ebner Strasse 1 in the Stuttgart district of Bad Canstatt. The children’s home – which is being built by the Stuttgart Caritas Foundation in collaboration with the Rieck Family Foundation and other donors – is scheduled to open this summer. The roof is already sealed, and the windows and an elevator have been installed. The next steps involve electrical installations, painting and decorating, and fitout of the rooms.

The home will offer a range of accommodation options, including a unit for a group of up to eight children aged eight to eighteen from Bad Cannstatt, either as temporary or permanent residents. There will also be an after-school care and education service for primary school children with complementary parenting courses. An in-home family service will support parents and children with their everyday family life. The foundation also plans to offer a psychological counselling service with child guidance and play therapy for children. There will be four apartments for unaccompanied refugee children and for young people on their path to independence.

“Construction is our field and children are our future. The fact that the Home for Children project combines the two makes it particularly deserving of our support!”
